• How do I schedule an appointment?

    • I accept new projects that suit my interest, ability, and skillset.  Due to the high-volume of inquiries, I am EXTREMELY selective with what I approve and schedule.  Unfortunately not all requests can be accommodated.  To submit an official tattoo appointment inquiry,  please fill out my TATTOO APPOINTMENT REQUEST / INQUIRY FORM.  If the link is not active it means I am not currently booking new projects at the time. Please note that if accepted, there will be a required $100 nonrefundable deposit to secure your appointment which is taken off the cost when the tattoo is completed.

  • Should I make / have my own design?

    • NO. I only do my own custom photo-collage designs, so please do not send or bring pictures of other peoples tattoos, I will not use them. Have a concept and an open mind, and I will create something unique and custom just for you.

  • How do I submit my deposit?

    • After your date is set, your deposit can be submitted in person if you are local, or I accept deposit transfers through Paypal, Cash App, Venmo, or Square.  If this is not completed within a week, your scheduled appointment will be voided.

  • Are deposits refundable?

    • No.  Deposits are nonrefundable and nontransferable, but will go towards the final cost of the tattoo, as long as no appointments are missed or cancelled.  If something comes up and you notify me at least 48 hours prior to your appointment then it can be transferred.   I handle all my own scheduling without an assistant so missing an appointment or rescheduling last minute will greatly inconvenience me.

  • Can I transfer my deposit and appointment date to someone else?

  • I know you have a long wait, can I just schedule now and decide later?

    • No.  All projects must be approved before scheduling

  • I heard you were booked out like a YEAR...is that true?

    • It used to be that way, but not anymore. Nowadays I only book myself out one month at a time.  With that comes a very selective scheduling process however.  please refer to the next question.  

  • How long is your wait?

    • It's indefinite.  I only book one month at a time then I stop scheduling.  I usually get to schedule only 4-5 new clients a month out of many emails. So when my schedule gets under a month of bookings, I refer to my batch of submissions and select the best ideas based on the info collected from the forms.  So if your idea is approved, you will be notified and put on a general "wait list" and I will contact you when I am ready to schedule it.  This keeps my schedule relatively open in the near future for such things as personal time, traveling, conventions, etc. 

  • What's your rate?

    • My base rate is $200 an hour, with a 3 hour minimum charge on any new session.  Sessions on existing pieces obviously do not apply to the minimum.  it is tentative rate depending on detail and body location, etc.  Most of the time I am pretty lenient and generous with my hourly rate.

  • How much is a portrait?

    • Portraits can take me anywhere from 3 to sometimes up To 8 or 10 hours depending on detail and size and whether or not other images are collaged with it. Based on my hourly rate, you can figure out a general estimate if you do the math.

  • How much for a sleeve?

    • My general estimation is that most of my sleeves can take usually somewhere between 30 – 40 hours of total tattoo time. Again, with my hourly rate, you can do the math. Sleeves are a very big commitment both financially and time. They can take several months sometimes up to a year to complete.

  • Do you do coverups?

    • almost never…unless it’s really small and really faded. Trying to cover something takes away from my ability to properly do my shading and realism at my highest level…and to be quite honest, they are a pain in the butt. I recommend finding an artist/style that uses an abundance of bold linework to hide the cover.

  • I don’t like what my artist started…can you finish it and add your “flare” to it?

    • No. Unfortunately I need to start my process from the very beginning including my own photo research and design to properly do my best work. I deserve clean skin just as you gave the previous artist clean skin to start on.

  • When will you let me know if you accept my idea?

    • Due to the overwhelming amount of inquiries I can only guarantee replies to projects that interest me.  Sometimes I might give a recommendation or an explanation but it is not guaranteed.  If your idea is accepted I will reach out to you anywhere between 2-4 weeks to either schedule you or let you know you are on my "wait list".  If for some reason it takes me longer than that and you move on to another artist, I completely understand.

  • How come you didn’t accept my request / What caused my idea to not be approved?

    • I do not do lettering, tribal, American traditional, Japanese, water color, geometric, or any variations of those. If i ever choose to dabble in any of those styles, it will be at my discretion. Cover-ups, touch ups of other artists work, working around other artists tattoos, trying to copy someones tattoo and choosing a style I do not do are also some of the most common reasons I reject tattoo ideas.

  • I don't like email...can I just call or stop in?

    • Unfortunately not.  When I am at the studio I am there preparing for or working on a client who has scheduled time with me.  Therefore I am not available for phone calls or walk-in consultations.  Due to my extremely selective process, email is the only method of consulting and scheduling and ensures I have all of my possible inquiries in the same "pot", so to speak.

  • Where are you located?

    • I am currently located at Surefire Tattoos in Crown Point, Indiana.  The address is 134 S Main St, Crown Point, IN 46307 or you can use the map below to help as well.  It is a second level loft space shop, so the door to enter is on street level just left of Tavern on Main Craft Bar and Eatery.  Parking on the street is limited, there is free municipal parking directly behind the building on the next block.

 
  • What do I need to bring on my appointment date? Can I bring someone with me?

  • Do you only accept cash or can I pay with credit/debit card?

    • I accept both cash and card…but PLEASE be aware that all card transactions will have a 3% processing fee added on. I can also accommodate Paypal, Venmo, & Cash app

  • Am I supposed to tip?

    • While I never expect tips, they are greatly appreciated. I realize you are already paying a substantial rate for my work but if you choose to tip, the suggested standard of 15%-25% is a good guideline.
